stumpy replacement mk II

Behold the brand-spankers langles-mobile. For most of you who are trapped in road-bike world the following probably means nothing, but for the record it's an "09 Anthem x ltd", last years top of the line giant XC model; Aluminium frame with Fox RP23 rear shock and Rockshox SID forks, XTR everywhere, plus carbon bars, post and even seat rails! 10.6 kg sans pedals....a big step up (down actually) from the stump (Approx 12.7 sans pedals). Cost more than my car, so no excuses now. Of the 3 things I vowed to change for the next 24solo (lighter bike, dont crash, and learn to corner), this is the first and perhaps easiest item accounted for. Can't wait to ride it but will have to patiently await the passage of a conference, followed by another weeks climbing at the annual Araps pilgrimage - which i'm hungry for as my form on the rock (well, the gym at least) is quite good at the momemt. Patience...grasshopper!

  1. Congrats Dave, just the machine needed for a potential world champ.

  2. Ha...in my dreams. An absolute best-case ride for me would probably be getting within 50 km of the winner. Approx 80 would be more realistic - but I appreciate the sentiment!

  4. Nice work Dave, am in the market for a new bike myself at the moment (house was broken into in Nov both bikes gone with a bunch of other stuff) - the Pearson is no more. I am finding the whole process agonising since I know too much so everything seems to have pros & cons. I test rode one of the Giant Rabobank type's the other day - integrated seatpost / Dura Ace etc - nice but not convinced. How about a post on how to chose which new bike to buy? I'm struggling - I prefered having the old bike as I could always blame that for getting shelled .....
