It's been a few years between structures. Although this one is not earth-shattering (i'm sensing a pattern here), its still nice to be back in crystal structure world. Fun locking horns with those pesky phi/psi torsion angles again, and with a pair of cis-peptides thrown in for good measure.
peptide backbone in place
...and with side-chain decorations
It looks like a giant 'formation' of parachutists (that is the correct collective noun, I gather). The world record for parachutists in formation is 100, and they made a diamond pattern, too. Langles' formation shows something that I don't pretend to understand ... Now, as for decals of wombats, well, that's a whole different thing.
ReplyDeleteI like the analogy, although given the almost random wanderings of the peptide backbone in 3D space this equates to a parachutist catastrophe in the making. But the number is almost spot on (107 aa). Will hopefully trial decal placement and finishing this w/e.
ReplyDeleteSo Dave, what on earth do you call it? And is it available as a children's puzzle? Ben
